semi-professional tucheze program

The TUCHEZE program is an intensive training designed to create a collective of semi-professional dancers specializing in Afro-urban dance styles. Over 8 months, participants will explore Afro dance styles Ndombolo, and Coupé Décalé, while deepening their cultural roots and artistic expression, as well as other complementary urban styles.

Over the course of the Tucheze program, you will develop essential core skills to elevate your dancing.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Mastery of Afro-urban dance techniques: Ndombolo and Coupé Décalé
     

  • Freestyle and improvisation
     

  • Choreography and stage performance

CULTURAL & THEORETICAL SKILLS

  • In-depth cultural knowledge of the styles taught (origin, history, and awareness of the cultural and social contexts of Afro-urban dances)
     

  • Development of musical listening skills to identify specific rhythms and accents
     

  • Ability to adapt movements to musical nuances

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Self-confidence and personal expression
     

  • Teamwork and collaboration

The program includes over 190 hours of in-person classes, workshops, and rehearsals.

February 2026 to December 2026 (38 weeks total)

CLASSES SCHEDULE

Fridays from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Sundays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

PREREQUISITES

Dancers should ideally have prior experience in Afro-urban dance such as Dancehall, Afrohouse, or Ndombolo or urban styles like hip-hop, house, or freestyle.
