AFRO-HOUSE
Originating from Angola, Afrohouse is a fusion of traditional Angolan dance styles, such as Kuduro and Semba, with contemporary influences from house music and other African dance genres such as Ndombolo.
The instructor may provide insights into the origins of Afrohouse, its evolution over time, and its relevance in Angolan culture. The participants will be encouraged to listen attentively to the percussion & connect with the music. An Angolan Afrohouse class is not just about learning the dance steps; it is also about embracing the vibrant, wild and joyful spirit of the dance style.
AFROFUSION
An Afro Fusion dance class is a dynamic and diverse dance class that combines various modern Afro movements with elements of contemporary and urban dance.
Based on musicality and expression, participants will learn choreographies that incorporate elements from multiple Afro dance styles, dancehall & hip-hop.
This fusion allows for creativity, versatility, and a unique expression of the music and dance.
AFRO-MINION
Our Afro Minions dance class is a fun and engaging dance class specifically designed for children that introduces them to the vibrant world of African dance and culture.
Children are taught the fundamental movements, rhythms, and cultural expressions of African dance. They learn to move their bodies in sync with the music, developing coordination, agility, and flexibility. The class promotes physical fitness and overall wellness.
NDOMBOLO
In the Ndombolo dance class, participants learn the fundamental techniques, movements, and rhythms associated with Ndombolo. The Congolese dance style is characterized by its energetic and hip-centric movements, fast-paced footwork, and fluid body isolations.
Ndombolo dance classes are not only a form of physical exercise but also a cultural expression. Participants learn about the history and significance of Ndombolo within Congolese culture, including its social and political influences coming into the scene in the late 90s.
NAIJA FUSION & AZONTO
Azonto and Naija Fusion serve as powerful conduits for celebrating the rich cultural heritage and artistic expressions of Ghana and Nigeria. They are testaments to the boundless creativity and passion that flows through the veins of these nations, captivating audiences and inspiring dancers around the world.
By embracing the essence of tradition while embracing innovation, Azonto and Naija Fusion have become iconic representations of the dynamic and ever-evolving street dance culture in Ghana and Nigeria. They bridge the gap between the past and the present, allowing communities to connect, express, and celebrate through the universal language of dance.
COUPÉ-DÉCALÉ
The Coupé Décalé sound and movement started in Paris nightclubs in the early 2000s where it was brought by Ivorian DJs. Ivorian music has really for the first time taken over dance floors all over Africa with at exactly the same time that the country was going through political and military crisis. In Nouchi (Ivorian slang), Coupé Décalé means “to cheat” and “run away” or cut and run. The fun, bass-heavy sound and dances are influenced by the Zouglou (local Ivorian genre), Ndombolo steps that embraced the joie de vivre that typifies Abidjan, a city known for its legendary partying.
DANCEHALL
The Jamaican Dancehall class is an energetic and vibrant dance experience that celebrates the rich culture and music of Jamaica.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students will delve into the history and cultural significance of Jamaican Dancehall. They will gain a deeper understanding of the music and its influence on the dance form, as well as explore the social and political contexts that have shaped its evolution.
